Fly The Rain....
Its gloomy since dawn, it’s not raining heavy enough to take a day off from office to settle in with a coffee mug and read the newspaper. I had to drag myself to the bus stop and watch the world pass me by, cars zipping past, a school bus full of animated kids, an elderly couple taking a morning walk, a traveler asking for direction.
I can see my bus on the horizon but Mother Nature plays a trick and it starts to pour heavily. Thank God I got my umbrella. I get on the bus and close the window tight, lest any rain water comes in. I can’t get a clear view through the misty window.
I can see my bus on the horizon but Mother Nature plays a trick and it starts to pour heavily. Thank God I got my umbrella. I get on the bus and close the window tight, lest any rain water comes in. I can’t get a clear view through the misty window.
My eyes focus on a water drop descending from top. The moving drop leaves a "snail trail". My eyes follow the trail until it vanishes. Another drop follows the trace left behind and extends it further. This continues till the entire window has a water track extending from top to bottom. Droplets sliding from top to bottom make the window hazy. I swipe the window with my palms to get a clear image of the outside. In the process, I mop the snail trail. But the drop doesn’t take time to make a new trace. Each time I swipe a new path comes up. I couldn't break the will of that drop, I had to give up and I doze off.
I am woken up by a piercing hoot. The climate has cleared up and it’s bright outside. The haze on the window has evaporated and probably mixed with atmosphere. But that small drop of water remained. As soon as a ray of light kisses the bead it scatters in different directions. Even the shaft of light wasn’t able to break the spirit of that drop…
